Balti has celebrated the 64th anniversary since the release of the town of fascists
The authorities of Balti town organized on Wednesday actions of celebration of the 64th anniversary since the release of the locality of fascist occupation, DECA-press Agency transmits.
Over one thousand citizens of the town, including civil servants, councillors, representatives of political parties, managers of enterprises and organizations, as well as several pioneers and Komsomol adepts brought flowers and participated at the marsh in the centre of the town to the cemetery of the military glory from the locality. The action brought together a very small number of veterans of war.
The local observers notice the growth this year of the number of participants at the commemoration actions.
The mayor of Balti, Vasili Panciuk, declared, at the request of DECA-press Agency, that this day is very important for the town, because, after liberation, the locality started to develop. To explain the great number of participants at the commemoration actions, Panciuk said that probably, the generations after war want to express their gratitude for the peace they live in today.
Speaking about the presence of a considerable number of pioneers at the event, the mayor Panciuk explained that they are a symbol which means our past, but the presence of pioneers is just an instrument of education of youth.
At the same time, the councillors from the opposition consider that, due to the fact that pioneers have been present at the cemetery of the military glory, the authorities celebrated the 64th anniversary since the liberation of the town.
The councillor from the part of the Democratic Party, Ion Bodrug, said that the exponents of the opposition from the Municipal Council of Balti respect this day, but they do not agree with the fact that pioneers have been involved in the event, as they are all pupils of some local educational institutions.
It is worth mentioning that, at present, in Balti, there are three survivors of the wars from 1944 in Balti region.
According to the authorities, on March 26th 1944, the soldiers of the 52nd Army of the Second Ukrainian line, releasing Balti town of fascist occupation, reached for the first time in the history of the second world war the state borders and started the campaign of liberation of Soviet Union.// BASA-Press
