At least 13 killed, 50 injured in bus accident in India
New Delhi (dpa) - At least 13 people were killed and more than 50 injured in a bus accident in India's north-eastern Manipur state Thursday, news reports said.
The accident occurred when the bus overturned and rolled down a hill about 60 kilometres south of Manipur capital Imphal, PTI news agency reported.
Several of the injured were in critical condition, officials said. The critical patients had been admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital in Imphal.
Accidents are frequent in India's hill states and are largely due to bad roads, poor condition of vehicles and dangerous driving. // © 2006 DPA
