Are the Russian soldiers shooting our citizens in the back?
By Valeriu Gonta / Moldova.org / -- An 18-year-old teenager from Pirita town was shot early today by the Russian peacekeepers. According to the policemen, the teen, who was driving a car, crashed into a hand post and refused to stop at their warnings. As a result, a peacekeeper shot towards the vehicle.
Unfortunately, a couple of hours later,
Vadim Pisari, the teen driver, died at the hospital. His friend, Constantin Bologan, who was next to him during the accident, said that he “has seen his own death.” Bologan told Moldova.org that they were heading to a gas station in Vadul lui Voda, a town on the right bank of Nistru River. On the way to Vadul lui Voda, their car hit a hand post around the peacekeepers’ station. The soldiers had ordered them to stop, but they rejected the warning. Four gunshots were directed towards their vehicle. He said that two soldiers have shot from different sides.
According to the journalists, the peacekeepers were not allowed to interfere because they do not represent the law-enforcement authorities.
“In this case, only a warning gunshot should have been enough in order to inform the Customs Office from the neighborhood. The police officers were 300 meters away,” said Pavel Postica, attorney at Promo-LEX foundation.
A group on Facebook, named “Withdraw the army from Moldova” was created today as a result of the occurrence. The members invite the people to protest on January 2 in front of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau to demand the withdrawal of the Russian troops.
