On Saturday, Oct. 18th, 2008, the EU's Anti-Trafficking Day is marked in Moldova with a special performance in Chisinau of an interactive play about the dangers of human trafficking, state an OSCE press release.

The play, performed by the Association of Young Trainers of Moldova with the support of the OSCE Mission, tells the story of a young Moldovan who leaves home after suffering domestic violence, takes a risky opportunity to work abroad, is exploited and abused but manages finally to escape. The audience has the opportunity to get involved in the story, to ask the characters questions and suggest alternative choices to them.

"The interactive performance is an empowering experience for the audience, and can help them understand what victims of human trafficking go through. The performance can help to prevent trafficking and improve assistance to victims by opening the eyes of the audience, to see that they can make better choices, have safer lifestyles and support each other," said Judith Hale, Senior Adviser with the OSCE Mission's Anti-Trafficking programme.

The play will be performed in 20 locations across the country by the end of this year; 10 performances have been held to date.
