Anti-government demonstrations in Moldova
“Down with the Alliance” - this was the message chanted by protesters today in the National Square of Chisinau. The demonstrators demanded the resignation of the government and the change of the legislation, reformation of the ruling coalition in order to overcome the political and constitutional deadlock and organize new elections.
Iurie Rosca, the leader of the demonstration stressed the failures of the current administration to elect the president as well as the referendum they wanted to organize. He also said that the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education and the Security and Information Service agency puts pressure on the demonstrators.
“We will continue to organize peaceful protests. We know our rights and we know how to defend them. We are committed to go until the end and we won’t give up,” said Iurie Rosca.
On February 18 the Communists also protested against the current administration. Yesterday’s protest was supposed to be organized in the same day with the one led by Iurie Rosca, but it didn’t happen.
