Air temperature to fall to 16 degrees below zero in Moldova
Air temperature will fall to -16 degrees Celsius on 14-20 December, the State Hydro-meteorological Service has said.
The first deputy director of the service, Elena Plesca, has said that the weather will be mostly cloudy, without essential precipitation on 14 December. The air temperature will oscillate between -5 and -10 degrees at night and 0 and -5 degrees during the day.
Light snow is expected on 15-20 December, except for 18 December, when no essential precipitation is forecast. Weather forecasters also warned about widespread icy roads.
The night air temperature will fluctuate between -8 and -16 degrees on 15-18 December, whereas the day-time air temperature will vary between -1 and -7 degrees.
Temperatures will slightly increase, reaching -8 and -13 degrees on 19 December and -1 and -6 degrees on 20 December at night. The day-time air temperature will stand at 0 degrees on 19 and 20 December.
According to the State Hydro-meteorological Service's multi-annual data /1886-2009/ on this period, the highest air temperature in Chisinau was +16.3 degrees Celsius on 14 December 1957 and the lowest, -15.3 degrees Celsius, on 14 December 1948.
